When Krypto is shot and poisoned by a suitably leering bad guy, Kara goes on the hunt for the antidote, while being pestered and trailed by an annoying teenager who is out to avenge her family’s death by the aforementioned villain, which takes them from planet to planet and sun to sun.

There is some fun to be had here; when it is good, it is very good (especially Kara’s “origin story”). Milly Alcock is fantastic and Matthias Schoenaerts leers and sneers with the best of them. The costumes are great, the visuals are top notch and the sound track is just about perfect.

However, the battle scenes are very generic; just unimaginative violence that goes on and on. There’s bit too much preachiness from time to time and at least one scene that made me cringe a bit. Finally, Jason Momoa was born to play Lobo, but I think they could have used him better.

And there’s one glaring plot hole that I still don’t understand.

I’ll give this a very mild recommendation. The kids might like it. There are no scenes after the credits roll, so you can fly right out.
