Poor John Wick. All he wants to do is kick back with his new dog, mope around his big, empty house and stare at a picture of his dead wife. But, nooooooooo. Here comes some mafia a-hole with a marker and an agenda, who won’t let him be.

If you’re a fan of simple action movies with scant plot and a ridiculous body count, then this one is for you. I will admit, the violence is beautifully choreographed and the sound track is wondrously intertwined for the full effect. And I am a fan of the way that Reeves hunkers and lumbers his way through his journey for justice.

But I need more from a film and about two thirds of the way through the action, I started to feel it was getting repetitious and somewhat lacking in thrills. No subtext or subtleties here, just shot after shot taking out enemy after enemy.

I’ll give this a mild recommendation. Go to a matinee to save some bucks if you can and don’t make this a date movie; the luck will not be with you. No post credit scenes, so shoot on out when they start rolling.
