They’re baaaaack! They’re maaaaaad! And then there’s those pesky aliens…

Twenty years later, the galactic cockroaches have returned with a mother of a plot (you’ll understand the reference if you go see it). Will they turn Earth into a wasteland? Or will humanity stand up and Make Them Pay?

I will give this movie credit for spectacle; it’s got boatloads of that. Special effects that actually use 3D for something. Excellent use of CGI. Beautiful sets and thrilling air battles and stunning sound effects. Even the story is kind of sort of good.
But when they add cringe-worthy dialog and race through directing the actors, who have almost zero chemistry with each other, I end up sneaking looks at my watch, instead of being immersed in the narrative. Even Goldblum had me squirming in embarrassment a few times. There were moments I was hoping that someone would get blown up, just to shut them up.

I really cannot recommend this one, but if you must, save a few bucks and go to a matinee. The good news is that there are no post-credit scenes, so you can save about ten minutesĀ of your lifeĀ and get out early.
