Ride Along

Written by: Greg Coolidge, Jason Mantzoukas, Phil Hay, Matt Manfredi

Directed by: Tim Story

Starring: Kevin Hart, Ice Cube, John Leguizamo, Bryan Callen, Laurence Fishburne, Tika Sumpter

Rated PG-13
Running time: 100 Mins

A security guard, wanting to win the approval of his girlfriend’s cop-brother, agrees to go on a ride along for one day. Hi-jinx ensue.

This is not a great movie. It’s predictable and pedestrian and nothing you haven’t seen before. On the other hand, there are some genuine laughs and some good bonding moments. Hart is funny and Cube is funnily intense; you gets what you came for.

If you have a free afternoon and wanted to catch this as a matinee, you won’t be very disappointed. You could take the kids; the violence is minimal and the language is mild (except for some surprising “N” bombs.) No after credit scenes so ride on out when they start.

Flytrap rating: 5/10
