Title

Kick-Ass 2

Written by: Jeff Wadlow, based on the Graphic (!) novel by Mark Millar & John Romita Jr.

Directed by: Jeff Wadlow

Starring: Chloë Grace Moretz, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Morris Chestnut, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jim Carrey, John Leguizamo, Olga Kurkulina, Lindy Booth, Donald Faison

Rated R because Hit Girl…
Running time: 107mns

Chris D’Amico is going through some changes. Frustrated by his father’s death at the hands of Kick Ass, he transforms himself into a super-villain called the Motherfucker. Rounding up a group of lackeys, he goes on a reign of terror, designed to bring out Kick Ass, who has retired himself from superheroing. Unfortunately for him, he also brings out Hit Girl.

This movie is a lot of fun. Moretz and Taylor-Johnson shine as the heroes and Mints-Plasse is hilarious as the ineptly evil-icious malefactor. Jim Carrey is very moving as the heart of Justice Forever, and a big shout out to Olga Kurkulina as Mother Russia. Plenty of action and great fight scenes keep this moving, as the heroes find their way back to who they really are. The only downside is no Big Daddy.

I’ll give this a high recommendation — if you liked the first one. You might not want to take the kids; it might give them ideas. There is a hilarious post credits scene that is worth the wait.
