While contemplating a career-changing decision, a film magnate is distracted by the kidnaping of one of his stars.

I have to admit, this is one gorgeous film and it’s almost worth the price of admission to se Channing sing and dance; he’s very good.
With beautiful cinematography, a great lineup of actors and some great direction, this should have been just my cuppa tea.

But I just wasn’t feeling it. The humor felt contrived and the plot was thin, very thin. Some of the plotlines (like the cowboy switching his image) went nowhere, in favor of Clooney’s mugging around as a slightly dim actor (I didn’t buy that, either).

I can’t really recommend this one; I almost left about halfway through it; instead, I stayed and wasted all the minutes.. There are no post credit scenes to delay you leaving.

Flytrap rating: 6/10
