An Earth boy is picked up by an alien spacecraft, grows up and travels the universe as a cheerful rogue. When an evil presence threatens to destroy a thriving planet, he falls in with a crew of mercenaries to defend it.

This is the best movie I’ve seen all year. Action-packed, visually spectacular and deliciously silly, Gunn delivers a stunning success. Every character is great; I was worried if they could really pull off Rocket Raccoon, but fret not — he was furtastic! A special shout-out to Karen Gillian as Nebula; she plays an evil wench you’ll love to hate.

I highly, highly recommend this one. I saw in 3D and for once I’ll recommend that, too; it really enhanced the effects. It’s a Marvel movie, so of course there are post-credit scenes.

Flytrap rating: 9/10
