When the Queen’s other son gets ambitions, coupled with delusions of grandeur, and starts threatening to attack the land dwellers, Aquaman steps up to stop him.

This movie is sensational, spectacular, and totally stupid. The villains are so cliche and cardboard that they aren’t really very interesting. (A common failure of DC movies. But hey, not every bad guy can be Loki.) The special effects are often so overwhelming to the actual action that they end being cartoonish. And while Amber Heard and Nicole Kidman are typically awesome, most of the other characters are rather bland. And it doesn’t help much that Momoa doesn’t have much range between snark and snarl.

I’ll give this a very mild recommendation; there was some fun here, but go see it in a matinee. 3-D might improve it some. There was an interesting mid-credits scene, but nothing after the rest of the 8 minutes more of credits.
