While the Shazam Fam flounder around trying to be superheroes, some ancient goddesses break out of their long imprisonment and confront the pack, demanding they get back what was stolen from them.

This is wild and whacky and benefits greatly from much more of Djimon Hounsou. Not to mention Helen Mirren, who can be be as threatening as Thanos without really trying. Along with a truly sinister Lucy Liu, this one sails along with gusto. The orchestral accompaniment (OK, the score, by Christophe Beck) is perfect and not so loud you can’t hear the crunch of people getting knocked through walls.

However, the special effects, while usually grand, occasionally looked a bit wonky, especially, the unicorns. You’ll see it. And the ending was very sappy. But you be the judge here.

I’ll recommend this one. It’s probably fine for the kiddos, although the language gets a bit coarse now and then. There is a mid-credits scene and a hilarious after credits scene.
