When a robber baron invades and occupies a farm town for its gold, once of the citizens hires a band of mercenaries to take it back.
This movie definitely has its moments. Everyone plays their parts well and the music is good, if not exceptional. There is action a-plenty and some pretty good shoot-em-ups.
However, why give such interesting actors such flat, cookie cutter characters? And why make the villain (Sargaard) such a dull weenie? The most interesting of the Seven is D’Onofrio, but there is not enough backstory for any of them and no chance to really expand their characters enough to get very invested in them. This has the effect of making the film feel a little rushed.
This might work as a matinee; I wouldn’t recommend spending full price on it. There are no post-credit scenes, so you can ride off into the sunset once they start rolling rolling rolling.
