When a storm of troubles start descending upon the Earth, Hollywood to be precise, a group of actors hole up in a fortress of a house and try to survive. Hampered by the normal group dynamics (and the fact that most of them are pretty clueless), they go from one crisis to the next with escalating ineptitude, while creating a sort of, “Don’t do this” manual for an apocalypse.

This is one of the best stoner-type movies I have seen and I laughed harder and longer than I have in a very long time, probably since The Hangover. Great writing and performances, especially since they are allegedly playing themselves, although I would say it’s more like they are playing a mash of the roles they have played in films. Good special effects and some nods to Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist (among many others). And Emma Watson, who lights up any film she is in.

I highly recommend this one, but note that it is rated R, mostly I suspect for the drug usage, so be careful of bringing the kids if you’re sensitive to this type of thing. No post-credit scenes, so you can jet as soon as they start rolling.

Flytrap rating: 9/10
